Proper training is essential for profitable floor care

From the August 2004 edition of Cleanfax magazine.

Entering the hard floor care service without adequate training can turn a profitable opportunity into a loss of reputation and a financial liability.

Ask these questions
Ask yourself and your customers these questions during a first inspection:
What type of material is the floor?
Who is the manufacturer?
How long has it been there?
What warranty is in effect, and what exclusion does it carry?

What to do with this information
With that information, visit a manufacturer's website or call them to obtain recommendations for proper maintenance and specified cleaning products for their floor finishes.
Call a distributor's technical department. A hardwood distributor is knowledgeable about a variety of surfaces. Natural stone, vinyl tile, and linoleum flooring distributors can often supply you with product information directly.
